Abstract The topic that I have chosen to discuss describes the comparisons and contrasts between the Bible and the Koran. As there are many, I only go into detail about a few. I discuss the importance of the Bible and its significance to Christians, as well as the Koran and its significance to Muslims. Afterwards, I compare the similarities as well as the differences in the Bible and the Koran, in relation to three chosen events that appear in both books. I then go on to give a synopsis in the conclusion of my work. Comparisons and Contrasts between the Bible and the Koran The Koran and the Bible are both sacred religious books. Yet, they both have many differences, as well as many similarities. The two books resemble each†¦show more content†¦They also inherited tendencies, which gave them the ability to exercise freewill. God asks Iblis why he does not bow to Adam, and Iblis responds by saying that he is better than Adam is, because he is made of fire, not clay. After God hears this, he threatens to throw Iblis out the garden. He tells Iblis that any man that should follow in his footsteps would go to hell. After this God adds Hawa to the garden. Once again, God tells Adam and Hawa not to eat of the forbidden tree. Encouraged by Iblis’ lure, Adam and Hawa both eat of the tree. He then dismisses them from the garden and sends them both down to Heaven, where he tells them to listen to his messengers. In both books, the same concept is used, but the manner in which it is used differs. There is a difference in names, a difference in eve nts that proceed and follow the creation, and a difference in the form that the angels present themselves. The next idea relates to Noah and the Flood. The version of the flood in the Koran differs from that in the Bible in three ways: the way in which the participants converse, the views of Heaven, and the way in which the flood is depicted and described. These differences reflect a fundamental variance in the ways in which the two cultures view man’s relationship with God. In our society, everyone desires a heroic reputation. Whether it brought an inward joy, or a reputable outward facade, exemplifying a hero developed into something everyone longed to do. This ambition remains today. However, obtaining a hero-like persona constitutes much more than saving a cat from a tree or helping an elderly woman cross the street. A hero not only affects the direct person in need of help, but the many around as well. In order to have the classification of a hero, one must adopt a courageous, determined, selfless, and inspiring attitude while also attaining an opportunity to show heroism. A hero must manifest the trait of courage, even when put in a tough situation in order to help another out. At first I was only able to remember a blazing red object coming toward me, but not what happened afterwards. A year after my encounter, I started seeing weird images and having visions of the future. I saw a scenario of recognition, of civilizations existing on other planets, of civilizations existing with fantastic technological achievements, of civilizations existing with tremendous scientific knowledge, of civilizations existing with people of various natures who have knowledge of all kinds, medical, artistic, cultural, etc. Another scenario I saw was of Biological Interference, of cross breeding with alien races, of giving of embryos or sperm for breeding experiments, of implantations of sperm or fertile eggs, of taking cells for examination, experimentation with cloning. Another scenario I saw was the Scenario of Induction, of an unseen secret organization of good will, of inspirational aids to solve problems and difficulties, of secrets of the past to be found, of monuments of good will recorded in lost places, of destruction of powerful evils to human/ earth Also I saw scenarios of Self-Development and Self-awareness, of offering new personal insights, of strengthening beliefs, of offering new projects, of support of a persons intentions/ambitions. There are many other scenarios and parts that came to me, and those can each or all merge one into another. In one message, the aliens told me that the purpose of these images are to rejuvenate the earth, and to aid in the evolutionary development of man. The Woman in Black Essay Susan Hill creates a sense of isolation since the beginning of the novel, when Arthur is at Monk’s Piece. The name of Arthur’s new house (Monk’s Piece), suggest that it is a calm place, but it also could suggest that it is isolated, because in the Middle Ages monks used to meditate alone in isolated places. Isolation is also presented in the other house in the book, which is Eel Marsh House. The only way to access to Eel Marsh House was by crossing a place called ‘Nine Lives Causeway’, which is the only path next to the house. Arthur describes Eel Marsh House as ‘submerged’ and ‘untraceable’, this implies that it is almost impossible to escape from Eel Marsh House. It is submerged because the causeway is under the water and it is untraceable because the marshes last forever. The name of the causeway also creates a sense of isolation, it is called Nine Lives Causeway, and this suggests that you must have nine lives to cross it (or to be very lucky and brave). Isolation is also there when Keckwick leaves Arthur alone in Eel Marsh House. He says that he feels â€Å"alone, outside that gaunt, empty house†. This tells us that Arthur is alone in the house, without protection and he ‘predicts’ that he will see the Woman in Black soon. Another time where we feel isolation is when Arthur is alone at the house and he is so scared that he starts to pray. I think that he prays because he is looking for protection and somebody to talk in God. Mrs Drablow also creates a sense of isolation, especially when Arthur asks for information to Mr Bentley.
